Unsourced article announces answer to longstanding prayer

According to a City Pages blogger five supposed Shakey’s stores are planned for the area as part of the chain’s nostalgia-driven resurgence.

Half the comments there could have been written directly from my brain, for instance:
My hope is that they use the ORIGINAL pizza recipe that I recall- from the 70s- The tiny pepperoni’s with the crispy edges and the little fatty puddles and the great sauce they made!! NOT the lame one they used in their last incarnation that I remember from the 90s.

King’s Cafe preview dinner

Come this Saturday there will now be TWO bona fide restaurants at 46th and Grand. Joining Cafe ENA is Samantha Loesch’s King’s (“Wine Coffee Food” goes the sign), which served preview dinners to invitees the past two nights.
King's - 21
Personal, one-visit impressions: Sharp menu, aggressively affordable pricing. Most starters, small plates, and desserts were $6 or under. Friendly staff, too. Nobody was too flustered by opening chaos to be completely hospitable and helpful. I enjoyed the Lite Fare I ordered:

  • a familiar but still well executed mixed greens with vinaigrette and house toasted croutons
  • a gazpacho that emphasized cucumber and pepper (both bell and hot) over tomato, though halves of cherry toms were in evidence and nicely balancing.
  • Ms. Loesch says King’s is to be open breakfast, lunch, and dinner all week and feature brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Great having another breakfast option but my visit will be lunch or dinner to get a crack at the fried green tomato BLT. More photos here.

With Passover looming so too does Kosher (for Passover) Coke [-bevreview.com review]. I cannot wait. Byerly’s St. Louis Park has their Passover displays up front and stocked but so far the only fizzy beverages included are the Dr. Brown varieties that reside in their kosher section all year long.

Ever wondered how they launched a nuclear submarine?

[youtube] About three minutes long. Thanks to my friend Alvin in San Antonio, always with the defense industry hookup.
